The reactions of hexaphenyldilead with monofunctional bidentate Schiff bases in 1:2 molar ratios have been studied in the medium of anhydrous benzene. Complexes of the type R3Pb-SB (where R= -C6H5) have been synthesized. All the reactions were found to be quite facile and lead-lead bond was cleaved in preference to the lead-carbon bond. The resulting derivatives were obtained in the form of yellow solids. The molar conductance measurements show that they are non-electrolytes. In these complexes, the central lead atom probably acquires coordination number of five and have trigonal bipyramidal structures. |
