Abstract :

Metal(II) complexes with histidine as the ligand have been prepared. The possible stereochemistry of the complexes have been deduced with the help of infrared, UV/VIS, metal analysis and conductivity measurements. The IR data revealed the coordination of the metal (II) ions through the nitrogen of the ligand and oxygen of the carboxylate group. The electronic spectral results indicated a square planar geometry around the metal(II) ions except the cobalt(II) complex where an octahedral geometry is proposed.

Synthesis of a novel superabsorbent hydrogel based on collagen-g-poly(AMPS) for controlled release of B12

Abstract :

Superabsorbent polymers are obtained by the graft copolymerization of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) monomer onto collagen, using ammonium persulfate as a free radical initiator in the presence of methylene bisacrylamide as a crosslinker. The synthesized hydrogels were subjected to equilibrium swelling studies in simulated gastric and intestinal fluids (SGF and SIF). So, we investigated the pH-sensitivity of the hydrogel. Ionic repulsion between charged groups incorporated in the gel matrix by an external pH modulation could be assumed as the main driving force responsible for such abrupt swelling changes, because this superabsorbent network intelligently responding to pH can be considered as an excellent way to design novel drug delivery systems, Therefore, we investigated the release behavior of B12 from this kind of responsive hydrogel. The concentration of released B12 was monitored at 370nm on the UV spectrophotometer. The release value of drug from hydrogels at pH 7.4 was higher than that at pH 1.6 due to the electrostatic repulsion between sulfonate groups and the higher swelling capacity of the hydrogel.

Email:-neerajktriputhi@hotmail.com

Abstract :

Cu (II) and Zn (II) has been investigated with L-aspartic acid and uracil as mixed metalmixed ligand complexes at silver-silver chloride electrode by the potentiometric technique. The stability constants of Cu (II) L-aspartic acid uracil, Zn (II)-L-aspartic aciduracil and Cu (II) Zn (II)aspartic acid uracil were determined using SCOGS computer programme and the complex formation equilibria were elucidated with the aid of speciation curves. The molar ratio of ternary and quaternary complexes was kept as 1:1:1 and 1: 1: 1: 1: respectively.
