Abstract :

In the presence of a cationic surfactant cetyl trimethyl ammo-nium bromide (CTAB) and acetic acid the kinetics of micellar catalysed oxidation of a pentose sugar i.e. D- Xylose by sodium salt of p- toluene sulphonamide (Chloramine-T) in to corresponding aldonic acid has been studied at 313 K. The catalytic effect of CTAB has been observed on the rate of oxidation. The reaction is first order with respect to oxidant and fractional order to substrate concentration. Various effects like solvent, salt, temperature and addition of reaction product etc. have been studied. Various thermodynamic parameters have been computed and on the basis of findings and observations a suitable reaction mechanism has been proposed.

Abstract :

Synthesis and spectral characterization of triphenyl phosphine and triphenyl arsine complexes of Pt (O) and Pt (II) with mixed ligand 1-butyl tetrazoline-5-thione are reported. The structure of the complexes has been elucidated on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, electronic, 1H NMR and 31p NMR spectral data, magnetic properties and conductivity measurements. The tetrahedral structure to Pt (O) and square planar configuration to Pt (II) complexes are reasonably assigned.

Abstract :

Some solid and stable complexes of (1-p-T-5TH) with Ag (I) & Hg (II) ions have been prepared and characterised using various physico-chemical methods. The ligand is co-ordinated to metal ion through thione sulphur as indicated by I.R. spectra. Ag (I) complex is polymeric and Hg (II) is monomeric. [Ag (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)]n shows maximum activity against bacteria Bacillus subtilis (Bs) and S. aureus (Sa) both but [HgCl (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)] shows maximum activity against only S. aureus (Sa). [Ag (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)]n and [HgCl (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)] shows maximum activity against fungus F. heterosporium (Fh) & A. nigar (An) respectively.

Abstract :

The present work is undertaken to make the systematic solution study of the complex formation of Co(II), Ni(II) Cu(II) and Zn(II)transition metal ions with tazobactum(L1) and chloropheniramine maleate(L2)drugs at 27 oC temperature and 0.1 M ionic strength(NaClO4) in aqueous solution pmetrically. The proton and metal ligand stability constants of complexes were determined and correlated with basicity of ligands and atomic number, atomic radii of metal ions.
