1,2,3Department of Geology, presidency College -5 India

Abstract :

About14 water samples have been collected from 10 different locations to know the status of the ground water quality in and around Cuddalore, Cuddalor district, Tamilnadu. The collected water samples were chemically analyzed by adopting standard procedures and the results were run into HYCH software to classify the water. The results show that whether it is shallow or deep aquifer systems the salt concentrations are increasing during post-monsoon period due to leaching of salts from the surrounding rocks. The deep aquifer water quality is better and its water quality parameters were within the permissible limits of WHO standard. It is suggested that the utilization of deepaquifer water is better than using shallow aquifer water to meet the water demand of people living in and around the Cuddalore town

Abstract :

3-Aryl-4-amino-5-mercapto-s-triazoles (I) were synthesized by the method of Reid & Heindel1. These were treated with cyanogen bromide in ethanol which on refluxing on a water bath (6 hrs) was neutralized with saturated aqueous solution of K2CO3 to give 6-amino-3-aryl-s-traizolo-[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazoles (IIa-d), which were further treated with aromatic aldehydes to gives 6-arylidene-amino-3- aryl-s-triazolo-[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadi- azoles (IIIa-p) is treated with pchlorophenylisothiocyanate to give 3,4,6-triaryl-1,2,4-triazolo-[3,4-b]- 1,3,4-thiadiazolo-[3,2-a]-1,3,5-triazine-5-thione (IVa-p). Fungitoxicity of the prepared compounds have been compared with Dithane M-45 a commercial fungicide, for their fungitoxic action against Puccinia recondita and Ustilagonuda var. maydis and the screening results have been correlated with the structural features of the prepared compounds

Abstract :

The fluorescence spectra of the metal-8-hydroxyquinoline (metal-HQ) complexes were obtained by measuring the fluorescence intensity emitted from the complexes produced by the reaction of metal ions with HQ reagent. The excitation wavelengths for all four Metal-HQ complexes occur at 370 nm. Meanwhile the emission wavelengths for Al-HQ, Cd-HQ, Mg-HQ and Zn-HQ complexes occur at 522 nm, 555 nm, 520 nm and 538 nm respectively. The stoichiometric and formation constant of the metal-HQ complexes were determined by means of Job’s method. The stoichiometry evaluated for metal-reagent complexes are 1:3 for Al-HQ and 1:2 for Cd-HQ, Mg-HQ and Zn-HQ respectively. Meanwhile the stability of the complexes are given by the order of Al3+ > Zn2+ > Cd2+ > Mg2+.

Abstract :

Seasonal variation of physico-chemical parameters of openwell water in Bakani tehsil of Jhalawar district, Rajasthan were determined. The hydrochemical investigation revealed that the seasonal effect does change the concentration of various ions present in the open-well water. Water samples were analyzed for physico-chemical parameters including pH, Turbidity, EC, TDS, Total Hardness, Na+, K+, Cl-, F-, NO3 - and SO4 -2. The data showed variation of the investigated parameters in samples as follows: pH, 6.92 to 9.33 ; Turbidity, 0.5 to 13.1 NTU ; EC, 1000 to 6200 μscm-1 ; TDS, 340 to 1850 mg/l ; Total Hardness, 88.2 to 745.4 mg/l ; Na+, 11.4 to 54.8 mg/l ; K+, 10.5 to 70.8 mg/l ; Cl-, 24.4 to 656.8 mg/l ; F-, 0.12 to 1.65 mg/l ; NO3 -, 19.3 to 91.5 mg/l ; SO4 -2, 8.5 to 64.5 mg/l. The concentrations of most of the investigated parameters in the water sample were exceeded the permissible limit of WHO (1971).

Abstract :

The paper deals with the use of Molecular Redundancy for developing QSAR models to predict inhibition values of aromatic & heteroaromatic sulfonamides towards carbonic anhydrase (CA-II isozyme). The regression analysis has shown that out of the pool of topological indices used, the Molecular Redundancy Index (MRI) is the best one for modeling CA inhibitory properties against the CA-II isozyme & that excellent results are obtained using combination of MRI with distance-based topological indices.

Department of Chemistry S.C. post College ,Ballia U.P India

Abstract :

3-(4-Bromo anilino) methyl propionate (Ia-f) obtained from 4- bromo aniline and methylacrylate. These compounds further treating with hydrazine hydrate (99%) in ethanol yielded 3-(4-bromo anilino) propionic acid hydrazine (IIa-f), which on further treating with aryl isothiocyanate (0.01 moles) in the presence of ethanol gives the title compounds 5-{2-[(4-substituted phenyl amino) ethyl]-N-(4-substituted phenyl) 1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-amine (IIIa-r). All the synthesize compounds
were well characterized by their elemental and spectral studies. The fungitoxicity of the synthesized compounds were evaluated against Phytophthora infestans and Helminthosporium oryzae.

Abstract :

The new complexes of Nickel(II) and Copper(II) with Schiff’s bases obtained by the condensation of 2- hydroxy- - naphthaldehyde dissolved in methanol and aqueous solution of thiosemicarbazide hydrochloride have been synthesized. The complexes formed have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment, thermogravimetric, electronic and infrared spectral analysis. The complexes were found to be non- electrolytes. Magnetic and spectral data indicate that Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes are to be of octahedral geometry.

Abstract :

The measurements of density, viscosity and speed of sound of 4-Methylumbelliferyl-β-D-glucuronide have beendetermined byexperimental procedures using bicapillary pyknometer, Ostwaldviscometer and ultrasonic interferometer respectively. From the experimental data various acoustical parameters such as apparent molar compressibility (k), apparent molar volume (v), adiabatic compressibility (βs), specific acoustic impendence (Z), intermolecular free length (Lf) have been evaluated. The concentration range is 0.02 to0.1 mol dm-3 The measurements are conducted at 303K in different solvents. The results are interpreted in terms of molecular interactions occurring in these solutions.

Ranjeeta Srivastava and Abdul Wahab

Department of Chemistry, Shibli  National P.G.College , Azamgarh India

Abstract :

4-Arylthiosemicarbazides (Ia-e) were prepared by mixing appropriate aromatic amines (in NH3) with CS2, sodium chloroacetate followed by hydrazine hydrate. These 4-arylthiosemicarbazides was added in pyridine and thionyl chloride to prepare 5-aryl-4-mercapto-1- sulpho-2,3,5-triazoles (IIa-e). These 5-aryl-4-mercapto-1-sulpho-2,3,5- triazoles were converted to their potassium salts and further treated with appropriate aryl halide to get 5-aryl-4-thioaryl-1-sulpho-2,3,5-
triazoles (IIIa-y). Fungitoxicity of the prepared compounds have been compared with Dithane M-45 a commercial fungicide, for their fungitoxic action against Puccinia recondita and Ustilagonude var. maydis and the screening results have been correlated with the structural features of the prepared compounds.
