A detailed characterization study was conducted on Sivaganga graphite ore deposit. The representative graphite samples of rod mill discharge were collected from the beneficiation plant of Tamilnadu Minerals Limited (TAMIN). The rod mill discharge was subjected to flotation to enrich the carbon values. The rod mill discharge and products
obtained from flotation were carefully characterarized by XRD, Zeta probe. Flotation reagent functional groups identification was carried out by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The x-ray diffraction results of rod mill discharge was revealed that in the feed material, graphite, kaolinite and quartz mineral phases are present whereas in its ash sample quartz and hematite mineral phases are present. It was observed that graphite, kaolinite and quartz are present in concentrate and tailings samples like feed sample. However, only quartz phase has been observed in tailings ash sample. The zeta potential study clearly show that the combination of MIBC, ethyl alcohol and kerosene (i.e., MEK) having the point of zero charge at pH around 8. From this it is concluded that the MEK combination is work better for flotation than other reagents. Various frothers selected for FTIR study. From this study, it is concluded that MIBC yields better efficiency than other frothers. The possible reasons could be due to differences in their functional groups. Combination of MIBC and ethyl alcohol ratio of 90:10 frother provides better efficiency than the individual frother.

The present study includes phytochemical screening and immunomodulator activity of green vegetable drugs (Artocarpus heterophyllus, Cichorium intybus, Brassica oleracea) that can be useful in terms of reducing side effect and used in daily diet. The green vegetables were extracted and evaluated for their immunomodulatory activity. The immunomodulatory & phagocytic activity were ascertained by in-vivo (male wistar rats) and in-vitro (Blood PMN cells) respectively. In addition, antioxidant activity also performed by DPPH Method & Free radical scavenging assays.

Metal play an important role in our life. They are essential for Plant/Animal life at trace levels but they become toxic even at a little higher level. Six elements (O, C, H, N, P & S), which contribute almost 98% of the total mass of cell, but unfortunately metal also cause environmental pollution. This is the major concern, because like most organic pollutant can easily be destroyed by combustion has effected on metals. Out of 40 naturally occurring elements detected in living organism about 25 out of them essential for the animals and human beings. Metal like Pb, Hg, As etc. are necessary to human body in a minute quantities but even slight excess is very dangerous. Their proper emphasis has to be given to this fact as it is causing number of diseases to human & even cattle’s metabolism. The conventional methods are useful but now a days various biotechnological based method are more effective & efficient1,2

The present investigation was carried out to investigate the impact of agricultural practices on ground water quality at five villages in tehsil Sangod, Kota district. Examining various physicochemical parameters like pH, total dissolved solids, alkalinity, total hardness, sulphate, chloride, nitrate, phosphate through the water analysis and comparing results with water quality standards prescribed by WHO and BIS 10500 and calcuting various water quality indices indicated suitability of water for different purposes. Correlations among different parameters have also obtained by karl Pearson’s method

The synthesis of 4,5-dihydro-4-(4,5-dihydro-3-methyl-1- phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-1-aryl-3-methyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine- 6-thiol (I a-h) have been undertaken by the condensation of 1-Aryl 3- methyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one with thiourea and 5-chloro-3-methyl-1- phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde. The constitution of the products (I a-h) have been characterized by using elemental analysis IR, 1 NMR and mass spectral data. The products (a-h) were assayed for their in vitro biological assay like antibacterial activity towards gram positive and Gram negative bacterial strain and antifungal activity towards Aspergillus nigor MICC-282 and Candida albicans MTCC-227 at a concentration of 40 μg/ml.

Modification of base bitumen using additives, modifiers are required to overcome the pavement failures like permanent deformation, bleeding, cracking and water damage and to improve the functioning of bitumen mixtures and to facilitate day by day increasing traffic loadings in changing climatic conditions etc.
In the present work four polymer modified products were prepared with varying structure, molecular weight and weight percentage of polymer. Same VG 10 bitumen was used as base bitumen for the polymer modified bitumen (PMB) products. These products were evaluated as per IS 15462-2004 specification for PMB and comparison was done between different structured, different molecular weight and different weight percentage of polymer products for PMBs performance properties. The study concludes that Radial polymer with higher molecular weight and viscosities are best among the PMBs.

Fabrication of 2, 5 bis (4-methyl piperaz-1yl-methyl) 1-4- hydroquinone modified Wax Impregnated Graphite Electrode (WIGE) was used for highly selective, sensitive accumulation and detection of copper ions in real samples. Techniques like cyclic voltammetry(CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) were used to investigate ligand modified WIGE and the ion permeation through it. The electrochemical behavior of copper ions on ligand modified WIGE was studied through scan rate effect and pH study. The results indicated that CV peak currents have a linear relationship with concentration in the range of 0.05mM to 5mM, with a correlation coefficient of 0.983. The detection limit could be estimated 5 x 10-5M for Cu(II) ion by cyclic voltammetric method. The interference study was performed for equal molar concentrations of Cu(II), Pb(II) and Hg(II) ions on ligand modified WIGE.

Sulphanilic acid, one of the organic crystals which has typical properties is grown by simple solution technique by adopting slow evaporation method using dilute ethyl alcohol as solvent at room temperature. The solubility of sulphanilic acid, in EtOH/H2O was determined. The solution grown sulphanilic acid, was carefully harvested and subjected to various characterization studies viz. UV, FTIR, H1 NMR. The results are suitably interpreted to know the application oriented properties of solution grown sulphanilic acid.

The reagent 1, 2 Propanedione,1-phenyl-1-(2-hydroxy-5- bromobenzilidine azine) -2-oxime (PDPHBBAO) has been synthesized and it was subjected to FTIR, NMR, elemental analysis and Mass Spectroscopy for characterization. This reagent was then applied for extractive spectrophotometric determination of Cu(II). Copper metal forms dark yellow coloured complex, which can be extracted in chloroform at pH 9.6, having absorption maxima at 440 nm. Beer’s law is obeyed in the concentration range 1-10.00 μg. The Molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity was calculated on the basis of total Copper(II) taken and found to be 5.9909X 103 Lit mol-1 cm-1 and 10.6 X 10-3 μg / cm2 respectively.
The developed method is highly sensitive, selective, simple, rapid, accurate, and has been satisfactorily applied for the determination of copper in the synthetic mixtures, alloys, beverages, milk samples etc
