Abstract:

The present communication deals with the identification of various sugars present in the roots of the plants Maesa indica Wall. Their presence was confirmed by paper chromatography using authentic samples1. Carbohydrate contents were found to contain 2.3% reducing sugars and following sugars were found present D- galactose, D- mannose, D- glucose, D- fructose, maltose, L- rhamnose, and sucrose.
