A polarographic study of In(III) with Pentanedioic acid and 2-[(2-Aminoacetyl)amino] ethanoic acid in aqueous medium under varying temperatures at 300K and 310K have been carried out using KNO3 as supporting electrolyte to maintain constant ionic strength (µ = 1M) TritonX-100 was used as maximum suppressor. The stability constants of In(III) with Pentanedioic acid and 2-[(2-Aminoacetyl) amino] ethanoic acid was evaluated first by DeFord and Hume's method while the stability constants of mixed complexes have been evaluated by the method of Schaap & McMaster's. The reduction is found to be reversible and diffusion controlled involving three electrons in each case. The three species of mixed complexes MXY, MX2Y, MXY2 have been determined and found to be more stable than that of the simple ones. With the help of these data the statistical and electrostatic effects have been also studied.
In continuation of the previous work, practical proton ligand and metal ligand stability constants of the metal ions Y(III), Nd(III) and Pr(III) with glutamic acid ligand at temperature 203 K at constant ionic strength of 0.1 M KNO3 was determined. The stability constant was determined by the method of Bjerrum Calvin pH titration technique as adopted by Irving and Rossotti1-2. The stability constant of metal complexes with glutamic acid shows the sequence Y (III) > Nd(III) > Pr (III). Thermodynamic parameters such as free energy (DG), enthalpy charge (DH) and entropy charge DS also have been calculated.
The [Cu(PPh3) (BPOAP)] complexes have been used as ion carriers for the preparation of Copper (II) ion selective membrane sensors. This electrode gives near Nerstian responses in the linear concentration range of 1×10-4 t0 1M with electron limits of the order of 10-4M. The stable potentiometric signals are obtained with in a short time period of 5 seconds. The effect of pH and the effect of medium have been studied. Selectivity coefficient values (log , M) have been evaluated using fixed interference method (FIM).
Data are presented on the level of Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the liver of Oreochromis niloticus exposed for 10 weeks to sublethal concentration of cadmium. The fish samples were obtained from Waddi Haniffa Riyadh Saudi Arabia between March and July 2008. specrtophotometric method was used to determine the activities of enzyme. High concentration of cadmium with long exposure time causes low (GSH-Px) activities. (P>0.05). the possibility of detecting environmental pollution by monitoring glutathione peroxidase concentrations or the activity of glutathione peroxidase depend enzymes in fishes is discussed.
The distribution of some heavy metals in three fish species of north Red sea near Haggel coast was studied in samples collected throughout the year of (2008). The relative accumulation of total heavy metals in studied fish showed the following pattern Chaetodon trifascialis > Pomacanthus imperator > Pygoplites diacanthus. Pb and Zn concentration are below limits of detection in all organs as in cadmium in muscle. Generally, most of our results are within the reported literature range for various marine system, indicating that metal levels are not elevated.
The [Ni(PPh3) (BPOAP)] complexes have been used as ion carriers for the preparation of Nickel (II) ion selective membrane sensors. This electrode gives near Nerstian responses in the linear concentration range of 1×10-6 to 1 M with electron limits of the order of 10-6M. The stable potentiometric signals are obtained with in a short time period of 5 seconds; the effect of pH and the effect of medium have been studied. Selectivity co efficient values (log ,M ) have been evaluated using fixed interference method (FIM).
A number of 2, 4-thiazolidinedione derivative having dialkyl amine/diphenylamine appendage at N-3 position were synthesized and their anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic activities were evaluated. Some new derivatives were synthesized by reaction of 2, 4-thiazolidinedione and different aldehydes, which react with different dialkylamine. In order to confirm anti-inflammatory and anti-hyperglycemic activity, the reduction in the paw volume of carrageenan induced oedema in the albino rat compared to Diaclofenac sodium and the blood glucose levels were determined according to GOD-POD method in dexamethasone diabetic rats respectively. All the compounds were found active for their anti-inflammatory activity and glucose lowering capability.
Key words : 2, 4-Thiazolidinedione, anti-inflammatory activity, antidiabetic activity, hypoglycemic agents, antihyperglycemics and Dialkyl Amine containing 2,4-Thiazolidinedione.
The aim of the present study was to perform stability study of sustained release granules of metoprolol tartrate stored at different storage conditions. The matrix granules were prepared by wet granulation method with 20% drug and HPMC K100M, ethyl cellulose as matrix former and coated with Eudragit RS/RL at a ratio of 97.5:2.5 w/w in Fluid Bed Coater. Stability study of matrix coated granules was performed as capsule dosage form in Aluminium-PVDC packaging mode at 25°C /60% RH and 40 °C /75%RH for six months. There was no remarkable change in shape, size and colour of the granules after 6 months storage in all the conditions. The sustained release granules after even storing at 40°C/75% RH for 6 months showed no remarkable change either in physical appearance, drug content and dissolution pattern. The results of the stability studies indicate that the formulations could provide a minimum shelf life of 2 years. |

Some cis dioxo-metal (VI) complexes of dibenzyl sulphide having general formula [MO2(ligand)2A2] (M = Mo/W; A = Cl/OH) have been prepared and investigated using elemental analyses, magnetic, conductometric, IR, uv-vis, and 1H NMR spectral data. Metal-ligand vibrations in far infrared spectra of complexes have been located and assigned.
We have synthesized (2E)-N-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)-2-cyano-3-(methylthio)-3-[(substituted phenyl)amino]acrylamide by using different aryl amines and that reacted with hydrazine hydrate or 2,4-DNP to obtain series of 5-amino-N-(substituted-phenyl)-1-(substituted)-3-[(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl) amino]-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide. The structures of new compounds were established on the basis of spectral and elemental analysis. The title compounds were screened for anti-bacterial (agar diffusion method) and anti-oxidant activity (ferric ion reduction method) and inhibition of denaturation of protein. Most of the compounds have shown promising activity.
