Novel series of 1-substituted-2-thio-(1H)-4-(1-substitutedthiocarbamido -3-yl)-6-substitutedamino 1,2-dihydro-s-triazines[4a(i) to 4f(iii)] have been obtained by the isomerisation of 2-substitutedamino-4-(1 substitutedthioc- arbamido-3-yl)- 6-substitutedimino-1,3,5-thiadiazines[3a(i) to 3f(iii)] in presence of ethanolic sodium bicarbonate solution, which have been obtained by basification of their hydrochlorides [2a(i) to 2f(iii)] which are synthesized by the interaction of 1,3-Bis-(N- substitutedthioamido) guanidine (1a-f) and N-aryl/alkylisocyanodichlorides.The latter were prepared initially by the condensation of guanidine carbonate and N-substitutedisothiocyanate. The structure of all these compounds was established on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and PMR spectral data.
Alpinia is a genus of about 200 species of ginger-scented, rhizomatous perennials natives to Asia and Australia. Alpinia conchigera Griff. is one of the Alpinia species which is also known as joint-whip ginger, lengkuas ranting or lengkuas genting. Soaking with hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and methanol successively carried out the extractions and the crude extracts were further screened for bioactivities. Crude hexane, dichloromethane and ethyl acetate extracts were strongly active against Salmonella choleraesuis in antimicrobial assay. In antifungal screening test, hexane extract showed slight inhibition on Aspergillus ochraceaus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae while ethyl acetate extract was active towards S. cerevisiae as well. All crude extracts except methanol extract exhibited very strong activity in cytotoxic screening test against HL-60 cell line (human promyelocytic leukemia) with IC50 values < 5 µg/mL.
Novel series 2-(1-substitutedguanidino-3-yl)-4-(3-phenylthiocarbamido -1-yl)-6- substitutedimino-1,3,5-thiadiazine [3a(i) to 3f(ii)] have been obtained by basification of their hydrochlorides [2a(i) to 2f(ii)] in presence of ammonium hydroxide solution, which are synthesized by the interaction of 1-Formamidino- (N-phenylthioamido)-5-phenyl-2-thio-4-iminobiuret (1a-f) and N-aryl/alkylisocyanodichlorides. The latter were prepared initially by the condensation of substitutedisothiocyanate with N phenylformamidinoformamidinothiocarbamide. The structure of all these compounds were established on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and PMR spectral data.
The use of natural antioxidants in place of synthetic food additives for the improvement of food lipids has received special attention. This paper reviews the antioxidant properties of clove oil in common edible oils viz. cotton seed, groundnut, mustard and sesame. Each oil was impregnated with varying proportions of clove oil and was exposed to sunlight for varying time along with a control sample(without clove oil). The peroxide value for each sample was measured periodically and the change in rate of oxidation between control and sample was measured. The peroxide values of samples and control were also measured before and after being used for frying. For all the edible oils studied, it was found that there is a significant reduction in rate of oxidation in the samples which contained clove oil.
Acid hydrazide when condensed with carbon disulphide in ethanolic potassium hydroxide yielded potassium dithiocarbazinate(2). On heating (2) and acid hydrazides yielded compounds (3a-I). the compounds (3a-I) were reacted with chloroacetic acid and yielded compounds (4a-I). the antimicrobial activities of the synthesized compounds have also been evaluated. The structures of the same compounds were established on the basis of analytical and spectral data.
Initially the ionophoretic technique was limited for separation purpose in Biology and chemistry. In 1964, the Jokl extended it to the qualitative study of simple Inorganic complexes. Now the techniques has been proved as a handy tool for the study of coordination compounds in solution. Authors research group has successfully and widely applied electrophoretic method with drastic modifications to the quantitative assessment of equilibrium constants of some inorganic complexation reactions. The present work reports some of our obser vations for Th (IV), Fe (III), Cr (III) and A1 (III)- Cysteine complexes.
Polarographic investigations of Co(II) with penicillin benzyl sodium salt have been carried out in aqueous medium at two temperatures, 25°C and 30°C. The study was conducted at pH 6.00. Cobalt(II) undergoes irreversible 2e_ reduction process with penicillin benzyl sodium salt. The shift in E1/2 of Co(II) was positive. The kinetic parameters (K°fh, an) were calculated adopting Meites-Israel and Gaur Bhargava's methods. Results obtained, using the two methods, are in good agreement.
D.C. polarographic method has been developed for the qualitative as well as quantitative analysis of ayurvedic drug. "Amar Sundari Vati" which produced well defined polarographic wave in 0.25 M acetate buffer at pH 4.40 ± 0.1 with E1/2 values -1.35 v, -1.20v (indicating the presence of Fe and Co respectively) and in 0.1 M HC with E1/2 value -1.10 volt (indicating the presence of Zn) vs S.C.E. The wave height is found to be proportional to the concentration order Fe>Zn>Co. The results were satisfactory and the developed method is simple, rapid and sensitive and can be applied to the micro determination of the trace metals in various Ayurvedic drugs.
A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for determination of diltiazem hydrochloride in pure and dosage form is proposed. The drug exhibiting maximum absorption at 249.8 nm in chloroform. The drug obeys Beer's law in the concentration range from 2 to 20 µg / ml. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and recovery studies.
