Abstract :

In the present work, the medicinal plant leafs of Raatrani treated with sulphuric acid and formaldehyde were used as an adsorbent for the removal of acid blue, acid red and malachite green from aqueous solution. The adsorption characteristics of all the three acid dyes on activated Raatrani leaf powder (RLP) were evaluated as a function of pH, adsorbent dose, initial concentration of adsorbate and temperature. The effective adsorption was found to be in pH range 3.5 to7.2, adsorbent dose 0.5gms to 0.8gms, initial concentration (1x10-5 to 5x10-5M) and temperature range (308 to 318K) The results reveal that maximum adsorption of all three acid dyes onto RLP is within the range of 58.70% to 83.70%. The adsorption data fitted well into Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption models. The results show that Raatrani leaf powder holds a great potential in removal of acid dyes from industrial wastewater.

Abstract :

[1,2,4] Triazolo compounds have demonstrated interesting bioactivity and many researchers reported the synthesis, structure activity relationship and applications in medicinal science. Much attention has been paid to the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds bearing a thiadiazines moiety, mainly because of the interest concerning their broad spectrum of pharmacological activities. These observations prompted us to synthesis some thiadiazine derivatives containing (1,2,4) triazole ring, which have been discussed. Synthesis of 3-(p-methylphenyl)-6-aryl-7H-(1,2,4)-triazolo (3,4-b)-1,3,4-thiadiazines and its derivatives have been reported in this paper. Compounds were characterized on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral studies (1H, FT-IR) and supported by mass spectroscopy. All the compounds have been screened for their in vitro biological assay like antibacterial activity and antifungal activity

Abstract :

In this present work, we have studied the seed germination of methi (Trigonella FO Enum Graecum L.), cucumber (Cucumis Sativus L.), ghobi (Brassica Oleracea L. Var botrytis L.) and onion (Allium Cepa L.) on the basis of different salinity levels. Different salinity levels of soil samples have been collected from the specific area of the Gujarat state like Ahmedabad, Surat and Ghandhidham.

Plants like methi, cucumber, ghobi and onion are more sensitive towards salinity during germination and early seeding growth and some are during later stages of development 0.2% and 0.4% salinity levels have affected most to the seed germination and hence taken up for the study.

Abstract :

The comparison of t-3-methyl-1-nitroso-r-2,c-6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one oxime and t-3-isopropyl-1-nitroso-r-2,c-6-diphenylpiperidin-4 -one oxime. The effect of A1,3-stain introduced by N-NO group in N-nitroso 3-methyl-2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one and N-nitroso 3-isopropyl-2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one on the selectivity in the formation of oxime has been studied. The configurations and preferred conformations of the oximes of N-nitroso-2-6-dipheyl piperdin-4-ones have been determined using NMR spectral experiments and are found to prefer twist-boat conformation with equilibrium between two rotameric states due to restricted rotation around N- No bond.

Abstract :

A heterogeneous precipitate has been as ion carriers for the preparation of glucose selective membrane sensor. The electrodes give near-Nernstian response in the linear concentration range of 1M to 1×10-4M with detection limits of the order of 10-4M. The stable potentiometric signals are obtained with in a short time period of 7 seconds. The effect of pH and the effect of medium have been studied, found to give a better response selectivity coefficient values (logKpot Glucose) evaluated using fixed interference method. The sensors have also been used as Glucose determination in commercially available products.

Abstract :

Suppressed conductimetric ion chromatography ( IC ) for the simultaneous determination of inorganic anions is described. F-, Cl-, NO2- , Br, NO3- , HPO42- , SO42- , and Iwere determined in basil (ocimum basilicum L) sample. The separation is performed on shim-pack 1C-SA2 250 mmL x4.0 mm ID peak. Column operated at 30 oC within 11.517 min by isocratic elution with 1.8 mM potassium carbonate , 12 mM potassium bicarbonate and 0.05 mM 18-crown 6 (pH 9.24) as elute . The method does not need a special sample treatment and was successfully applied to the analysis of basil (ocimum basilicum L)

Spectral Behaviour of Acenapthene in Micellar Media
Seema Acharya* and Sunil kumar Jangir

Spectroanalytical Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, JN Vyas University Jodhpur India

Email:-seema.aacharya@gmail.com

Abstract :

The solubilization of acenaphthene, a PAH, in to the micellar core of certain surfactants has been studied with the help of fluorescence spectroscopy. The various surfactants used for study are nonionic as well as ionic ones. The nonionic surfactants used are TX-100, Tween-80, and Tween-40, the anionics are DBSS and DSSS and two of the cationic surfactants are CPC and CPB. The fluorescence peak height enhanced gradually on increasing the nonionic surfactants concentration with a bathochromic shift of 5-10nm. The dual nature of surfactant micelle is responsible for the occurrence of properties of surface activity, solubilization and micellization. The increase in fluorescence intensity in micellar media can be attributed to the increase in quantum efficiency. This suggests that the surfactants have solubilized the suspended molecules of acenaphthene. The solubilization phenomenon has also been confirmed by quantitative calculation like, quantum yield, empirical fluorescence coefficient, molar extinction coefficient, and Stokes' shift. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental observation.
